Concept
At the core of this collaboration lies rice — a staple food shared by both Brazilian and Japanese cultures. More than nourishment, rice represents common ground, ancestry, simplicity, and emotional connection. Present on everyday tables across continents, it becomes here a symbolic material: its texture inspires the shoe’s surface and serves as the conceptual thread between utility, heritage, and tactility — central themes to PACE.
The structure of the Gel Kayano 12.1 ASICS x PACE Brismo 2.0 begins with the selection of materials. Variations in texture, temperature, and surfaces encourage tactile exploration. Design elements, such as patterns, cuts, and 3D overlays, invite touch and tactile feedback, aiming to create an engaging and even emotional interaction with the shoe — encouraging
the user to reconnect with the sense of touch often developed in childhood, at a time when digital interaction prevails. The color selection was inspired by a Japanese motorcycle relaunched in 2012, highly beloved by Brazilian motorcycle enthusiasts. These colors evoke speed and nuances associated with robotic prototypes.
