FDMTL builds its haori from a patchwork of indigo fabrics, inspired by boro, the Japanese tradition of patching and mending cloth. Pieces in different weaves and shades of indigo are joined into one jacket, giving it more depth than a single fabric could, and each panel will fade at its own pace as you wear it. The cut follows the traditional haori: open at the front with no closures, with a dropped shoulder, a roomy body and sleeves that narrow toward the cuff. It’s unlined, with a pocket on each side, and it’s easy to throw on open over a tee or knit, even indoors.
